Liver stiffness measured with ultrasound elastography has important prognostic value among patients with heart failure, suggests a study published online in JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging. Patients in the highest tertile of liver stiffness were at higher risk of mortality and heart failure rehospitalization over follow-up of more than 6 months. The findings thus suggest that the assessment of liver congestion at discharge may assist in the management of heart failure patients.
